NORWICH TWP. SAFETY SERVICES BUILDING
HILLIARD, OH | SITE PLANNING & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
The Norwich Township Safety Services Building was a joint effort between the Norwich Township Fire Department and the Hilliard Police Department to turn an existing fire station into a facility that would meet the needs of both departments. The existing station was refurbished with a new façade and an addition was made for use by the Police Department. POD design was responsible for designing the foundation plantings, parking lot plantings, and landscape screening for the project. Additionally, POD designed a memorial grove of Maples and edge plantings for the retention pond located on the site. We also worked with the client to solve issues related to the screening of the adjacent fairgrounds while still providing parking and access to that site.
POD Design was the sub-consultant to the project architect, M+A Architects. The new safety services facility will include a 63,527 square foot building with 24,142 square feet being occupied by the Norwich Township Fire Department, 29,265 square feet being occupied by the Hilliard Police Department and 10,120 square feet being shared space between the two.
