THE WOODLAND GARDEN AT INNISWOOD
WESTERVILLE, OH | SITE PLANNING AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
The final phase of a uniquely themed children’s garden, the Woodland Garden, was conceived of as a series of overlooks and boardwalks through a restored woodland ecosystem. The garden is made up of two areas, the first an overlook area that has views down to a turf story maze. The second part of the garden was conceived as a treehouse area, which is divided into three landings connected by bridges. Each of the three landings is themed after the levels of the forest – leaf litter, tree trunks, and canopy. The tree trunk level features real trunks harvested from MetroParks Property. Other features of the garden include a rope suspension bridge that connects two of the landings, hand carved art pieces that serve as a railing for the canopy level platform, and boardwalk railings made of custom, hand-tied rope netting. POD Design was responsible for all phases of the garden, including conceptual design, construction documents, bidding, and construction observation.
