COLONEL GLENN CORRIDOR STUDY
DAYTON, OH | SITE PLANNING & LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE
In an effort to create a more appealing gateway in to the community, the City of Fairborn has also begun an effort that will improve the safety and pedestrian comfort level along one of the most highly traveled vehicular corridors in the City. The City of Fairborn engaged POD Design to conduct and moderate a series of public workshops with interested stakeholders, the City and Wright State University officials to identify improvements that will include gateway features, environmental graphics and signage, decorative lighting, enhanced sidewalk treatments, brick plazas and columns, improved bus stops and colorful landscape plantings. The improvements made along this portion of the Colonel Glenn Corridor will use these features to provide for traffic calming and while unifying the Wright State Main Campus to businesses along the south side of the boulevard without creating any major restrictions to the current vehicular flow of traffic. This design effort will also begin the character dialogue that will be used for other community gateway locations throughout the City of Fairborn.
